Yearly registration is $115 (as of Nov 2024), payable to Scouting America. You can register online directly to our troop:
Scouts should appear in Scoutbook in the troop within 48-72 hours after the application is submitted and paid online. The registered parent will receive an email with the login details.
1. Complete the youth application found here and select the transfer option. Enter Troop 498 for boys and Troop 8498 for girls.
2. Submit the applications to the Troop 498 Membership Chair.
3. The Troop Membership Chair completes Troop details and submits the application to the council registrar at membership@seattlebsa.org.

Scouts should appear in Scoutbook in the troop within 24 hours. If you run into any issues using the online transfer method, use the transfer request method listed above. Make sure that AOL is recorded by your Pack before submitting a transfer request to council.
Registration dues are collected each year in November for the following calendar year. All scouts pay the required National and Council registration fee plus a small troop fee. Reduced dues are for Scouts that participate in our fall pie fundraiser or Volunteer Matching programs.

What do the dues cover? BSA 2024 registration fees are $115, this amount is paid to BSA National and Chief Seattle BSA Council, our troop receives none of this money. The troop fees cover:
We currently are able to supplement most troop operating expenses from our non-profit organization Family and Friends of Troop 498, which is funded through corporate matching of volunteer hours by our members. This allows us to keep our troop fees to a minimum.
Financial support is available from the troop, council, and through our non-profit Family and Friends of Troop 498. It can cover dues, summer camp, gear, and outings. Reach out to the Committee Chair or Treasurer to inquire for your specific needs.
